Day 2: A song that reminds you of your parents

Well... a song that reminds me of my parents. Yeah, easier said than done. Lol

So, maybe you know or maybe you don't... Summer vacations for my family were usually spent on a seven day cruise to some beautiful destination. Many of my Christmas vacations were also spent in a very similar manner, usually a four day cruise to Nassau or Freeport. My parents loved to cruise, and in turn I have grown to love taking my own children on these same cruises. There is something nostalgic about music. It can truly bring back a flood of memories for me, no matter where I am or who I am with. The song that reminds me most of my parents also reminds me of so many of the fabulous vacations we took as a family with some of my best friends, cruises aboard the different Carnival ships. I always met the neatest people on our cruises. Back before Facebook, email, and other social media outlets, people had pen pals. I had pen pals for years from the friendships I found aboard Carnival's most beautiful ships. :)

For your listening pleasure on this frigid evening.. A little "Hot, Hot, Hot" to warm your toes. ;)

Day 1: A song from your childhood

When I think back on my childhood, I can think of so many songs that open the floodgate of memories. I could create a playlist of childhood favorites ranging from hymns sang from the pews of church, my wanna-be rapper days, my stint as one of the Judds, or even my pretend days of being a back-up singer for Madonna. If I had to narrow the list down to just one, I guess I would choose an oldie-goldie from my dear pal, Randy Travis.

I can vividly recall a dream where I sat beside a tree at an outdoor concert listening to Mr. Travis. The dream was so real that I swear it could have happened in real life. Unfortunately no one else recalls attending this Randy Travis concert with me. :( Every single time I hear this song, I am reminded of how my dreams shattered like glass dropped on a concrete slab. So, please for the sake of my dreams, give this song a listen and pretend you're sitting beside me at this outdoor concert some 10 years ago. You're never too old to pretend, right?

Here Goes Nothing...

For some time now I've debated whether or not I wanted to start a blog. I considered blogging about things that happen in my classroom, my random thoughts (ramblings), and obviously I considered just nixxing the idea all together. So after great debate and much time spent on Pinterest, I have decided to stick my toes in the blog water and see what happens.
